I had the privilege of meeting Carl and Jan on a trip through Alabama with friends who are great friends of Carl. They were two of the nicest, most hospitable people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Carl was a friendly, kind, and generous man who would do a favor for even a perfect stranger. He will be missed by every single person who knew him. He will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jan and family. Carl was indeed one of a kind!

Dear Jan and Family,
I served with Carl in Viet Nam. He was my best friend. We kept in touch all these years and I was able to see him and Jan on my way to Florida a few years ago. We loved to discuss Alabama and Iowa Hawkeye football.
