Carlye Edward Jorgensen, 84, passed away on May 21, 2012 in Palestine, Texas. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. In his last years he had a relaxed way of making friends and showing genuine kindness to everyone he met. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 25, 1928 to Chester Edward Jorgensen and Lois Roberts Jorgensen. Carlye proudly served in the U.S. Army from May 1948 until April 1952 as part of the 1st armored division and as a drummer in his division's band. Carlye Edward Jorgensen, 84, passed away on May 21, 2012 in Palestine, Texas. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. In his last years he had a relaxed way of making friends and showing genuine kindness to everyone he met.

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 25, 1928 to Chester Edward Jorgensen and Lois Roberts Jorgensen.

Carlye proudly served in the U.S. Army from May 1948 until April 1952 as part of the 1st armored division and as a drummer in his division's band. He was honored by receiving a Bronze Star for his service in the Korean War.

Carlye went on to receive a Bachelor of Music Degree from Sul Ross State College in August 1956. He also received a Master of Education Degree from Texas ATM University in August 1969.

Many people may remember him as a teacher but he will also be remembered as the original owner of Carlye's Frame Shop and Art Gallery in Round Rock Texas. Although he had many talents which included carving, framing, painting and wood working, he dearly loved art and music. In his younger days he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving Carlye are his sons, Edward and his wife Shelah and Mark and his wife Brenda; granddaughter, Heather Green; grandson, Hayden Jorgensen; great-granddaughters, Camie Green and Victoria Green; brother, Lynn and his wife Carol and family; late brother Terry's widow, Wannette and family; and sister, Thyra Griswald.

Carlye was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Terry and his sister Betty Lambert.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, May 24th at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25th at 10:00am in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. His burial will take place at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carlye's honor for the Wounded Warrior Project online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
