Carmella "Corky" Russell, 84, was born in Sacramento, CA on October 10, 1928 and passed away December 15, 2012 at her Sacramento home. Survived by her sister, Lavonne Lee Cortopassi, nieces and nephews; Darcy & Lance Seppi, Nicholaus Seppi, Michael Cortopassi, Erin & Tad Volgler and their children Daniel & Tristan, Robin & Josh Randall with their children Chloe and Wyatt.
Corky was a life-long resident of Sacramento who spent most of her working career with the California Youth Authority. No doubt there are some of her charges whose lives were changed by her giving personality.
Her passion was golf and when many professionals never make a hole-in-one during their careers, Corky made 4. She liked to tell friends of the tradition of buying drinks at the 19th Hole for those present on such an occasion, and the last hole-in-one cost her $500.
Private Interment at St. Mary's Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for January 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Hi Country Club, 9595 Franklin Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758. Donations maybe made to the charity of your choice . Arrangements by Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home (916) 451-7284.

I met Corky sixty years ago when I was eight. People did not make a fuss over kids in those days; in fact, most adults ignored them because they were supposed to be "seen but not heard." Corky spoke to me and joked with me. I thought she was very elegant and NICE!! In the past sixty years nothing has changed that opinion. She will be missed!

Corky was, and will always be one of my favorite "golfing buddies". I loved the way she hit the ball! She will be dearly missed. Lee, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Corky was a character. 84 going on 20. Had a desire to learn the computer and would call me over frequently to undo some of things she forgot to uncheck - her browser had a million tool boxes on it until I deleted them.
Always paid me by making an Old Fashioned which was better than any others I ever had.
She will be missed.
