Carol A. Gruber (nee: Doddek) passed away November 29, 2016 surrounded by her devoted husband of 54 years, Bob, and family members.
Carol was an RN at Barnes Hospital for 42 years, as well as the nurse in the first aid station at the old Busch Stadium for St. Louis Cardinals home games. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Cheryl, as well as her loving parents Opal and Art Doddek.
Carol is survived by cousins Fred (Karyn) Prine, Vicki (Richard) Urbanski, Jackie (Harold) Swain and Rodney (Teresa) Gant. Special "Aunt Carol" to Carl (Deanna) Prine, Fritz (Gina) Prine and their children Mia, Spencer and Marcus.
If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to either BJC Hospice (bjchospice.org) or to Susan G Komen for the Cure (komen.org).
Funeral service at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125 at 10:00am Saturday, December 3, 2016 with interment to follow at St. Trinity Cemetery. Visitation on Friday, December 2 from 4pm – 8pm at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125

I just found about Carol, I was deeply saddened to hear this. I want to offer my sincere condolences for you loss.
You, Carol and Cheryl are very special to me. I always looked forward to seeing you when you came to the office for your visits.
Though we haven't gotten to see each other as much in recent years. I considered you all as some of my dearest and special friends.
I hope that you will find comfort knowing that Carol and Cheryl will now be together with the dear Lord.

I was so sad to hear about Carol. We worked together many years and everyday was an adventure with her. She was quite a gal.....I so admired her determination in face of so many obstacles. She will always be in my heart. So sorry Bob
