Together they raised five children on the Bassett farm east of Delano. Carol attended the First United Methodist Church of Delano and worked as the church secretary for many years.

Carol was devoted to her family. She found joy in interacting with young children. Carol could often be found teaching her grandchildren how to collect eggs and care for chickens. She had a deep appreciation for animals and nature. Carol was generous in sharing the bounties of the farm, which included oranges, fresh eggs, and raisins.

She is survived by her sons, Alan (Deanna) Bassett, of Delano, CA., Brian (Maria) Bassett, of Tracy, CA., son-in-law, Robert Sayer, of Superior,CO., siblings, Rex (Diana) Kauffman, of Bakersfield, CA., Ned (Glenna) Kauffman, of Topeka, KS., Ted (Pat) Kauffman, of Lolo, MT. and Linda English, of Bakersfield, CA., 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
