Carol Ann Henigan (Cordes) passed away after a brief illness at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her loving husband and children. She was born in Mount Vernon, NY on April 24, 1936 the daughter of Herbert and Helen Tait Cordes.
She graduated from A.B. Davis High School, Mt Vernon, NY in 1954. While in school she volunteered as a candy striper in a local hospital. She was an accomplished bowler and loved to skate whether it was on wheels or blades. After graduation she worked several jobs until she met her husband Wilbur "Bill" on a blind date. She moved to Rhode Island and married Bill on August 23, 1960.
While in Rhode Island she work as a travel agent at International Tours, Inc in Cranston. They vacationed as a family in Moxie Cove, Round Pond Maine. Due to her husband's job, they transferred from RI to Maine in 1977. She decided that she was going to be a stay at home mom where she was dedicated to her children's activities from her son's baseball games to her daughter's skating lessons. She loved to entertain. Every Christmas Eve she would open her home to close friends and family. She loved doing the Cryptoquip, Jumble, playing Scrabble/ Words with Friends and cards.
After her last child graduated from high school, Carol went back to work at the Eastland Park Hotel. She worked there for 23 years, as a reservationist and then the reservation manager, right up to the point when it closed for renovations in 2012. While at the Eastland she had earned the nickname "Big Momma". Everyone who worked there respected her opinion and her big heart. One year, she had made a reservation for a family who was visiting from New York during the Thanksgiving holiday. She got to know the family and then instead of them eating in a restaurant, she invited them into her own home to celebrate the holiday.
Carol is predeceased by her parents and her daughter Karen Henigan. She is survived by her husband Bill of 54 years. Her children; her oldest son Michael Henigan and his husband Kelly Hillard of Atlanta, GA; her daughter Linda Duntley and her husband Eric of Scarborough; her sons Stephen Henigan and his wife Christy of Newport; and Donald Henigan and his wife Kimberly of Bath.
