Carol LaPlante Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 16, 2015.

LaPLANTE, Carol L, age 68, of Shelby Twn, passed away February 14, 2015 with her two daughters at her side. Mrs. LaPlante was born to William and Mary (Eaton) Midlam on July 24, 1946 in Battle Creek. Philanthropy was important to Carol, she was an active supporter of the Kidney Foundation, and an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, which helps women, children, and families. She also enjoyed boating with her late husband, George, through the North Star Sail Club. Carol is survived by her children, Mary Rae (Brian) Thatcher, of Harrison Twn, and Michele Oakland, of Shelby Twn; and her very special grandson, William Thatcher. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George LaPlante; her parents; and two sisters and a brother. The family invites all friends to join them for a Luncheon at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Alibi Restaurant, 6700 N Rochester Rd, Troy. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, PO Box 97075, Washington, DC 20077 or www.mda.org.

Keeping both you girls and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Your Mother and I have had some great moments and our friendship has lasted for years. When we look up to the sky tonight, don't think of them as stars. Think of them as porch lights welcoming her safely home. I'm sure George and Gail are taking good care of her now as you girls have been doing here on earth. Love Deanna
