TOTH, Carolyn "Carrie" (nee Martino) 87 of Clayton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bernard "Bernie" Toth. Carolyn was born in McKees Rocks, PA, January 19, 1930 to Italian immigrants Angeline (nee Todaro) and Pasquale Martino who precede her in death. Also preceding her are three brothers Anthony, Ralph and John Martino. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter and son-in-law Linda and Stefan Van Der Merwe, three sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Julie Toth, Steven and Jenny Toth, David and Diane Toth; grandchildren Lindsay Wiener, Ryan Wiener and wife Karli, Daniel Wiener and wife Brittany, Kelly Toth, Jody Toth, Matt Drummelsmith, Hannah Toth and Alyson Toth; brother Robert Martino, sister JoAnn Schumacher, numerous nieces and nephews. She studied piano for 10 years and was the accompianist for the girls, boys and mixed choirs in high school. Carolyn Worked for U.S. Steel Corporation for ten years prior to 1960. She owned her own medical and court transcription service up until this year and was known to be an outstanding typist. She enjoyed playing piano, gardening, bowling, reading, italian cooking and baking, was a former Red Hat Society member, and spending time with friends and family especially her children and 8 grandchildren. Bernie and Carolyn enjoyed living in their Clayton, OH dream home for many years. She traveled to the Calabria region of Italy in 1973 with her mother Angeline and daughter Linda, where she visited family and discovered her roots. One of her fondest memories was seeing the rock house her father built for her mother in 1915. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 30th at 4:00 p.m., St. Paul Catholic Church, 1000 W. Wenger Rd. Englewood, OH 45322 with Fr. Timothy Knepper C.PP.S. celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 24 N.
