Carolyn Abernathy Obituary

Carolyn Weston Abernathy (80) died peacefully in her sleep on December 23 following a long illness. She was born in Louisville, Alabama, and grew up in Montgomery. She was the daughter of Dewey Weston and Willie Sims Weston. Carolyn was married to Donald E. Abernathy for 59 years. Carolyn lived most of her adult life in Dunwoody, Georgia and Dadeville, Alabama, where she was a member of Lake Martin Baptist Church. During her life she taught Sunday school, was Women's Missionary Union President, and was an avid golfer. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Donald; son, Michael Abernathy and wife, Debbie (Mobile, AL); son, Robert Abernathy and wife, Laura (Neenah, WI); daughter, Donna Rydquist and husband, Dean (Calabasas, CA); and niece, Suzanne Johnson and husband, Terry (Union, KY). She is also survived by a sister, Ida Maloy and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 28, at White Chapel-Greenwood F. H., 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL. Family will receive guests beginning at noon. Memorial donations may be sent to Lake Martin Baptist Church, 9823 County Road 34 West, Dadeville, AL 36853.
