Catherine Atkins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 1, 2014.

Catherine (Kay Dobruck) Atkins, 92, of East Hartford passed peacefully on June 29, 2014, at Fox Hill Center, Rockville, CT. She was born in East Windsor, CT, on January 1, 1922, to the late Florence and Charles Dobruck. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur G. Atkins.
She was predeceased by her brothers Charles, Phillip, Donald, and Carl Dobruck; her sisters Marion Swider and June Dobruck, as well as her son-in-law David Mason. She leaves behind her beloved children Sharon Swanson and her husband Alan, Diane Mason, and Catherine (Kay) Ashline and her husband Francis. She also leaves her grandchildren David Mason and his wife Nicole, Jennifer Stark and her husband Brett, Kurt Swanson and his wife JoAnn, and John Ashline. She also leaves her great grandchildren Connor and Anya Swanson, Logan and Carter Mason, plus her sisters Eileen Dobruck and Shirley Hart as well as many very special nieces and nephews.
Kay was a stay-at-home mom who devoted her life to her family. She was also an avid photographer. Her gift of gab and her natural ability to write made her the perfect candidate to become editor of the Willow Arms News later in life. She became an active participant in their entertainment programming and holiday decorations. She also remained a communicant of St. Mary's Parish in East Hartford, CT.
Calling hours will be held from 8:30-9:30 AM, at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, on Thursday, July 3rd followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, at ST. Mary's Parish, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial will then be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill, CT.
