Greensboro - Catherine Fleet Tilley, 96 passed away in her room at Wellspring Retirement Community, Saturday, February 9th, 2013.
Catherine grew up in Greensboro, graduated from Greensboro College with a degree in mathematics. She taught high school math, worked for Jefferson Standard Life in New Orleans, owned an independent insurance agency, operated Greensboro Paving Company and was co-owner of Tilley Realty and Property Management.
She was the daughter of James B. Fleet ( Fleet-Plumber Hardware) and Mae Fleet ( Maison Joline Dress Shop). Catherine was preceded in death by her daughter: Mary Joe Brooks and her two husbands: Joseph T. Brooks and R.C. Tilley. She is survived by her brother: Rev. Jimmy Fleet - Greensboro and her son - Jim Brooks - Beech Mountain, N.C. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Catherine had a long life in the business world - but her greatest joy was helping others.
Family members will celebrate her life with a family memorial service in the Spring.
She was a life-long member of West Market Street Methodist Church. Memorials in her honor may be made to Wellspring Retirement Community or West Market Street Methodist Church.

I met Mrs Tilley when I was a teenager and got to see her from time to time after that. She will be missed.
