CATHERINE A. WOOD, 89, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Ashton Creek Health & Rehab. Born April 28, 1923, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Enid and Belva Root. She retired as a bookkeeper from ACE Radiator. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 82 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are her son, John (Penny) Wood of Fort Wayne; daughter, Dianna Wood of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Dana (Cody) Statler, Haley (Ben) Heath and Kelly (Garrett) Wiejak; and great-grandchildren, Briana Cook, Mya Statler, Jayda Statler, and Cody Michael Statler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 2010; and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave., with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Mark Neubacher officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the church.

We wish to extend to the family our . heartfelt condolences. We were friends from way back. Larry and I used to play cards with your Mom, Dad and Grandpa Jess. Larry's Mom and Dad, Jack & Nilah Kreigh, would also play with us. Haven't seen your Mom for quite a while. Enjoyed spending time with them many years age.
