Cathy (Hennrich) Cole, age 68, died early in the morning of July 16, 2013 at her home in Stamford. Born June 9, 1945, she had lived in Stamford 37 years. Survived by Stephen, her husband of 43 years, brother Carl of Honolulu, HI, daughter Samantha of Riverside, RI, son Jason of Acton, MA, three grandchildren and three nieces, she will be greatly missed.
Cathy was born and raised in Rochester, NY, and was the daughter of the late Nancy Allendorf and the late Warren Hennrich. She was a 1967 graduate of Stanford University, where she majored in International Relations.
She was an avid gardener and was an active member of the Stamford Garden Club, as well as a longtime member of the Alliance Francaise in Greenwich. Fluent in French, she frequently visited France and other Francophone countries, and had traveled throughout Europe and many other regions of the world. Her family and friends will always remember and celebrate her sharp wit and her great love of life's finer pleasures.
A memorial service will be held at the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford on Monday, July 22, from 6-9 pm. A private interment in Rochester, NY will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Stamford Garden Club or the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Cathy was a good friend of my mother and she also was great to me. I remember her coming to our house often to play bridge. So outgoing and fun. I have often thought of Cathy over the years since my mother passed away and we lost touch with so many of her friends. Cathy will always be remembered by me since she helped me with my French language classes in school. My thoughts and prayers to the Cole family.

Dear Stephen, Samantha and Jason,
Kenia and I would like to offer are most sincere condolences for the loss of your wife and mother. Although we lived so far away from each other we kept our friendship alive, specially through the exchange of yearly Xmas letters. In our early Columbia U. years Cathy always kept our parties alive with her personality and happiness. We will miss her very much. A huge hug to all of you.

Cathy and I shared 50 years of friendship. As Hemingway wrote about Paris, I write about Cathy. "If you are lucky to have known Cathy Hennrich Cole, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, she remains with you for she is a moveable feast."

Stephen, Sam and Jason, we are so sorry for your loss. Cathy had a difficult time with her illness, but, you can remember her the way she was when she was actively involved in life. She apparently was an intelligent woman and someone to be proud of. We, too, hope that she will rest in peace, free of such terrible pain. We send our best wishes that you will find solace and peace in knowing that her suffering has ended. Love, Joyce and Rich Vertz

Dear Steve, Samantha, and Jason:
Cathy was a vibrant, articulate, and fun person to be around. My thoughts are with you. I used to babysit Samantha and Jason during our joint tenure in SLC and Cathy made me feel like a member of the family. We have in common our love for the French culture, language, and cuisine. She was a class act.

In 1996, Cathy was a founding member of our French group, the Cafe Franco-americain, and she gave it stability as other members came and went. We appreciated her lively, curious mind, and her gracious hospitality when we met in her home. She will be missed. Our thoughts are with Steve at this very sad time.
