Cecil Gray Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 27, 2015.

Cecil Jones Gray was born March 20, 1925, in Marshall, Texas, to the parentage of Ethel and Limmie Jones, Sr. She was the tenth child born out of two girls and eleven boys to this union. She married Eddie Lee Gray on February 20, 1944. They were married fifty-eight years.

She received her general education in Harrison County Public Schools. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Marshall. She was also a member of Community First Baptist Church and The Called Fellowship Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas.

In 1945, she and Eddie moved to Los Angeles, California, where she began her career working as a seamstress. In 1968, she and her husband moved back to Dallas, Texas, where she worked at Sunny South Fashions. She ended her career with her own business, Cecil’s Fashions.

On March 26, 2015, the angel of eternal life came down and called Mama, Grammy, and Gram Gram to rest up above. Her husband, father, mother, and ten brothers preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Beverley Ann, of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Charles Earl, of Dallas, Texas, and Eddie Claude, of Los Angeles, California; eight grandchildren, Tanese, Cecile, Thinsesha, Travor, Jesse, April, Zana, and Zharia; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher, Shaunte, Ricky, Shauna, Raynesha, Ebony, Emorah, Elijah, and Aaliyah; one great-great-grandchild, Christina; one dear sister, Ethel Lee Timmons, of Dallas, Texas; and one dear brother, Herbert Jones, of Marshall, Texas; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
