The light is gone from the window. No one can replace my good friend Cecil. The funny things he did made me laugh like a little boy. Hopefully time will replace this deep sadness with hilarious memories of the many times he took us back to the laughter of childhood. I think he would want us to laugh and celebrate his bigger than life, always positive and smiling personality. As I told him last Saturday "I will see you on the other side".

Back in the 1990's, we were on a GSOC ski trip to Utah. One day, a number of us, including Cecil, met a Alta mountain guide for a area tour. One of the off-the-beaten-path places he took us involved maneuvering carefully through a long, narrow pathway with huge snow covered rocks. Cecil was ahead of us and at one point, skiied off the path into a soft area that gave way and appeared to swallow him whole. We were the first ones to reach him. When we asked if he was alright, he looked up from 7 feet below us and said, "Yeah - This Hole Is Bigger Than Alabama!"
That single "Cecilisum" has reverberated in our minds over the years. It became the hallmark statement for us that reflected how energetic and enthusiastic Cecil attacked and lived life to the fullest.
God's greatest blessings on you, Cecil. We will meet again!

The obituary was spot-on. Cecil was a unique person always with a smile on his face. Willing to help. Infectious laughter. Upbeat, and well respected. God knows, if there is a person that will truly be missed by many people, it is Cecil. I can only aspire to emulate his way with people, and hope his influence serves in some small way a show of admiration for my friend.
