Cecil Lamar Wiley Lamar, 91, passed away of natural causes Saturday, March 8, at his home in Tallahassee. The last few weeks of his life he was cared for by his family and beloved caregiver Sandra Jerger. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Culley's MeadowWood, Riggins Road Chapel, with a memorial service on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Capital Heights Baptist Church , 7150 Apalachee Parkway. Lamar, 91, passed away of natural causes Saturday, March 8, at his home in Tallahassee. The last few weeks of his life he was cared for by his family and beloved caregiver Sandra Jerger. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Culley's MeadowWood, Riggins Road Chapel, with a memorial service on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Capital Heights Baptist Church , 7150 Apalachee Parkway. A burial will follow the service at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park.

Born November 3, 1922, in Blakely, Georgia, to Maude and Leon Wiley, he was the oldest of six children, spending most of his youth in Donalsonville, Georgia. Lamar served in the European Theater of War, 82nd Fighter Control Squadron in the United States Army serving in Italy, France, and Germany during World War II. Returning from the war, he met the love of his life, Dixie Poston, and married in 1945 in Donalsonville. His family was the first to have a "rolling store" in Donalsonville and surrounding counties and worked with his father many years delivering and trading merchandise. Later, he began working in the automobile parts business and made it his career for over 40 years working for Ford, Chevrolet and N.A.P.A.

Lamar and Dixie were married 62 years and had eight children. Lamar and Dixie moved to Tallahassee in 1962 and made it their home. Lamar never met a stranger – He was full of life, fun and humorous and was a great storyteller. Lamar will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He always told people he was a rich man – not in gold but rich with a loving family. He is survived by three sons and four daughters and their spouses: Ron Wiley (Kitty), Ray Wiley (Beth), Rick Wiley, June Wiley, Barbara Johnson (Kent), Betty Jordan (Danny), and Sue Judd. He is also survive by 16 very special grandchildren and their spouses: Shannon Wiley Bowlen (Steve) Niikki Wiley (Chad), Chad Wiley (Saunny), Chuck Wiley (Angie), Lee Wiley (Tracy), Evan Wiley, Ryan Wiley, Sean VanZant, John Lawrence Williams, Heather Patterson , Shane Sadler (Ashley), Kerri Hughes West (Kip), Chris Stinson (Cheryl), Tiffany Pride Valente' (Stephen) and Angela Jordan Gunderson (Todd). He has twenty-six g reat-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He is also survived by three sisters, Emily Easom of Tallahassee, Eleanor Houston and Quida Carr of Donalsonville and one brother, Marvin Wiley (Patty) of Auburndale, FL, and many nieces, nephews and family friends.

Lamar was predeceased by his beloved wife Dixie, youngest daughter Sherry, great granddaughter Lauren, great grandson James Ananias, son-in-law Layne Patterson, his mother and father and sister, Betty Spooner.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capital Heights Baptist Church, 7150 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 32311.
