I was conceived half way to the clouds under the sunny skies of Colorado, Fort Collins, Colorado to be exact. I was born Cecilia Elaine Mora, and it wasn't long before I was going on all sorts of adventures, greeting each one with a smile. My parents, Pilar and Ann are wonderful and even though I'll come to lose them - Dad in 1992 and Mom in 2008 - We'll still have millions of great times. Mom is graceful, stylish and intelligent. And Dad, daddy is amazing. He can probably fix anything and always finds the time to teach his little "CeCe" about cars, animals, gardening or just plain old life in general. Speaking of life, there sure is a whole lot of it around here. I have seven siblings, three girls, Roberta, Gloria and Carol – Carol is the only one younger than me – and, four brothers, David, Gabe, Jim and Mike! It seems like something is always going on around here.
Even though right now I'm only ten, I've already had tons of "First's". When I was two we were in a car accident during a road trip and I wound up pinned under the car! Luckily my dad is so strong that he was able to lift the car up just enough for yours truly to be saved. Then just a year later my brother Gabe was riding me around on the back of his bike and a miscommunication left me with a broken leg.
I love animals, almost as much as I love nature. Soon well be moving to a big house on Clover Lane here in Ft. Collins. There I'll have dogs, cats, ducks, you name it! Later in life I'll ride horses, have rabbits, ferrets, even mice!
I'll be going to Lincoln Junior High soon. After that I'll be at Poudre High School. There I'll get into all kinds of stuff. Play tennis – I love tennis -play D&D with Michelle Case after school. Hang out with everyone over at Richards Lake. And, there'll be great times going out with my best friend Becky Pena. Later after I've gone to trade school for nursing, I'll go back to school in my thirties and study one of my greatest passions, Art, at Red Rocks.
At fifteen, I'll rush over and single handedly put out a fire in a neighbor's house. This event will lead me away from wanting to be a nun as I'll find my true professional calling will be helping people in crisis. I'll be a nurse and work all over the Denver-Metro Area, but help mainly at Denver General ( later to be Denver Health Medical Center). The night shift in the psych ward will be where I enjoy working most. After that, in the late 1990's through to the 2000's I'll help special needs children as a Para-Professional with Denver Public Schools.
Despite no longer wanting to be a nun, I'll forever be spiritual. I was Confirmed in the Catholic Church and even ran for Fiesta Queen at Holy Family! As an adult my quest for truth and knowledge of the divine will lead me to study both the beauty and shortcomings of several different faiths. I'll learn and explore Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Paganism, Mysticism, and Native American Dreamer Religions. I'll even practice Islam for a few years.
My dad and my brother Jim will teach me how to drive in a blue and white Chevy truck. I'll grow quite attached to that truck, not only because I learned to drive in it, but for what it will symbolize to me. Soon after I'll get the travel bug and trot all around the country. My favorite home away from home will be in Seattle, though, I'll enjoy as well as live in California and Arizona too.I love reading and writing and I'll even be published in a collection of poems when I'm thirty-five. I also love drawing, painting, sewing, swimming and of course there will be plenty of boys, but, I won't know my first true love until I'm in my twenties. And, oddly enough it won't be a man. I'll first feel the warmth of eternal love on February 14th, 1981 when my only daughter Valerie Jo Mora is born. I'll experience the joy of everlasting love two more times. Just a year later on June 13th, 1982 my oldest son, Jon Dominic Mora will come into the world. And, three years later I'll complete the tribe with Jeremiah Lee Mora on August 26th, 1985. My three children will all be born in Fort Collins and will be beautiful and healthy. I'll consider them among my finest achievements. Valerie will give me two beautiful gifts. On November 13th 1995 Valerie will give me the title of Grandmother with the birth of the sweetest gift I've ever received, Anddi Pilar Mora. Seven years later Valerie will have her second daughter, with her loving husband James Jacob. On June 25th 2002 Re Ann Elizabeth Jacob will grace me with her smile.
While preventing a patient from committing suicide, I will suffer from a broken back and will subsequently undergo a major back surgery in 1991. The complications from this will be devastating. I'll face many mountains as I stage my recovery and will also wake up from the anesthetic with asthma and diabetes. Despite the issues I will face with my health, I'll still face it head on and live a happy life. While working with Denver Public Schools I'll meet Paul Alvarado. After dating for a while we'll get engaged. In the autumn of my years I'll travel my beautiful home of Colorado, frequently going to the Indian Springs in Idaho Springs. Paul and I will visit the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenburgs, Co. We'll go on long drives through the Rocky Mountains; we'll even successfully pick up gold panning! My love of nature will also bring me to studying gems and I'll become engulfed in the world of precious stones. I'll go and ride the oldest working carousel in the world in Burlington, CO!
I'll have an amazing life. I'll love a thousand times. I'll receive more love than I know what to do with. I'll read more books than most people have ever seen. I'll do what I want and I'll be smiling the whole time. But, that's all still to come. Right now I'm just ten years old, and I'm gonna' try and surprise my mom by making divinity chocolate before she gets home, wish me luck!
