Charles Simmons age 86, resident of Columbus, died on Wednesday August 09, 2017 in his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. on Saturday August 12, 2017 at 3 p.m. with Reverend Buddy Lamb officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Simmons was born May 08, 1931 in Columbus Ga. He served in the United States Marines in the Korean War. He was retired from the United States Postal Services after 32 yrs. He loved to watch wrestling, the Atlanta Braves, playing softball and fishing.
A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Simmons, one brother and five sisters. He is survived by one son Bobby Simmons and his wife Terry of Opelika, Al.; two daughters, Wanda Craigle and her husband Gary, of Fortson, GA, Lisa McMilleon and her boyfriend Terry Nile, of Columbus, GA; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
