Charlie DuBois lived a full and well-loved life. He was born in Lubbock, Texas on March 15th, 1930 to Dr. Byron Douglas DuBois and Maurine Berry DuBois and was raised in a Christian home in Jewett, TX. After the death of his father Charlie and his mother moved to Pearsall, TX where his mother remarried, expanding their family to include Nathan Arnold and his son, Charlie's stepbrother, Howell Arnold.
He is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Darene DuBois Raiford, grandson James and wife Rachel and great-granddaughter Ellie Raiford, and grandson Jason and wife Kaley Raiford. He is also survived by son Doug DuBois and wife Terri and granddaughters Kristen, Hannah, Rachel and Rebecca DuBois.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as an Aviation Machinist Mate, attaining the rank of Petty Officer, 2nd Class. Charlie was very patriotic and wore a U.S. flag pin for many years after 9/11. After an honorable discharge he completed his studies at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he earned a BS in Chemistry.
Pat and Charlie will have been married for 62 years this coming July. He cherished Pat and enjoyed every minute of their years together. Charlie was never happier than when surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Charlie worked for Parke, Davis & Co. as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for over 35 years. He won one national and several regional sales contests and building great relationships and some lifelong friendships with Austin-area pharmacists and doctors.
Golf was Charlie's passion. He won many single and partner golf tournaments at Balcones Country Club and is one of very few people to make 5 holes-in-one, including one (witnessed by his son, Doug) that ricocheted off of a bird on the green. He was a Life Member of Balcones Country Club and served on the Board of Directors for 3 years.
He loved the mountains of New Mexico and the Highland Lakes of Texas, and spent as much time as he could at the family cabins in Cloudcroft and on Lake Buchanan.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Balcones Country Club Women's Association Scholarship Fund. It would make Charlie smile if you would play a round of golf in his memory and buy an American flag and fly it.

I am sorry for your loss. I enjoyed playing with Charlie when he was able to make it to the course. Even though he was in pain he tried to play as much as he could. The Galaxy group at Balcones will miss him greatly.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. DuBois. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He played many a golf game with my dad, Gary Thornton. I have no doubt he and my dad are already playing a game in Heaven! Much love to you all.
