Charles Earl Delhotal, M.D. passed away Sunday, March 30, 2015 in Oklahoma City at the age of 95. Born December 28, 1919, Charles spent his childhood in Laverne, Oklahoma, where he played football, basketball, and wrestled. He attended the University of Oklahoma, from which he earned both his pharmacy and medical degrees; he practiced medicine as a pediatrician in Oklahoma City for over 50 years. He was an avid fan of OU's athletic programs, having been a member of both the football and wrestling teams. Charles served in the U.S. Army and Air Force; he was very active in his both his local and professional communities, having served as the president of both the Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County Board of Health, on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma County Medical Board, and was a perennial supporter of Sunbeam Family Services. Charles served as an associate professor at Children's Hospital, as well as taking part in numerous medical missions. Charles's devotion to his faith was of the utmost importance to him, having served as deacon, elder, and trustee at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katherine; wife of 53 years, Mary; son Charles Arthur, son-in-law Robert Perry, and brother Jack. He is survived by wife Myra, of the home; daughters, Helen Perry and Janet Briggs; son-in-law, Bryan Briggs; daughter-in-law Deborah Delhotal; brother, Maurice & wife Pat; grandchildren, Charles Robert Delhotal, Coleman Briggs & wife Aarin, Kris Cunnane & husband John, David Perry & wife Robyn, and Anne Marie Jordan & husband Thomas; 10 great-grandchildren, and 16 nieces and nephews. Many thanks to longtime caregiver & friend, Cydni Williams. Charles will be dearly missed, and remembered fondly. Those who had the great fortune of being in his life knew him to be a man who led by example; a beloved patriarch, he loved and cared for his family with tireless devotion. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 1 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sunbeam Family Services, Infant Crisis Services, or Care Teams of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Janet,
So sorry for your loss.I visited his statue that was in his office for many years with my son. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him, his legacy for treating children will go on for years to come.
I'll see that Sam get his obituary out to our classmates from Harding.
