Charles Edward Brigham, CMSgt. (ret) passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday June 11, 2017. He was 87 years old.
Charles was born on March 15, 1932 to Floyd and Carrie Brigham. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1949 and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. During his 26 years active duty, he served his country honorably and received many awards including the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal. His retirement lead to his civil service career at RAFB as a Communications Supervisor. After 16 years, he once again retired but he always remained a soldier at heart. If he happened to be in ear shot of the AETC pilots doing flight drills from RAFB, Charles would say "that's the sound of freedom". He loved this country and was proud to be an American.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and sister in law, Mary Brigham. Survived by his brother Richard Brigham, his wife of 64 years Doris, children Dale (Gail), Dawn (Rick) and Dana. He was a proud grandfather to 6 wonderful kids and great grandfather to 10.
Charles will be remembered as an incredibly, dedicated and supportive husband, father and friend. He was always there to provide encouragement, support and candid advice (often with a newspaper clipping) and guidance. He enjoyed reading his daily paper, breakfast at Los Arcos and La Villa, watching NASCAR and Jeopardy (he won millions).
Following Charles's wishes, the family is in the process of planning a private interment at Ft. Sam National Cemetery.

I am sorry for your loss even though I do not know all of you. what caught my attention was the name Charles Edward Brigham as that is also the last name of my late cousin Lee O'Neal Brigham and his father's name was Ed Brigham - buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois. - Carol Loven

Charles had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. When I married his wife's brother, he and Doris welcomed me into their home with open arms and treated me like part of the family. He was a very generous man and I enjoyed his sense of humor. Even though I live in Ohio, I kept him and Doris in my prayers. Thankful for his long, and fruitful life, and look forward to meeting him again in Heaven. May God Bless and keep the family. Sharon and Larry Keesee, Elyria, Ohio
