When i was just shy of 18, a family took me into their home. The older man was a character, not always personable, and very opinionated. One day, while stopped at a station, i tossed out my cig, which landed on the hood of his car and burned a hole in the clean paint, of the car he took pride in owning. I was undone. My heart sank. But when he saw it, he did not explode, as i had anticipated. He brushed it aside like a piece of lint and to my utter astonishment. never mentioned it again.... this man passed away recently. I wanted to tell the story at his funeral, but the opportunity did not present itself and the memory has been tugging at me since. So i tell it here. Where i vent my ideas and feelings, on facebook, however pathetic that may be, its true. And isay thankyou charles for treating me like a daughter, and the world was more interesting with you in it.

My dad and I were like oil and water, because we were so much alike. We use to bump heads all the time. At some point I learned it didn't do me any good to fight with him. He wasn't always the hard person he had became in life. He didn't tell us he loved us, but showed us by trying to make sure we did things the right way. He would tell us over and over and over, could drive you crazy. His way was the only correct way to do something. I'm going to miss his nagging. And if you bought something and he found out, he would let you know that he knew where to get a better deal on it and that we paid to much for it. Love you daddy
