Charles Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2018.

Charles Alexander was born on November 15, 1928 in Kildare, TX. He was born to Andrew Napoleon Alexander and Ada Dell Brigman. Charles was the youngest male out of 9 total siblings. He attended Shiloh school in Atlanta, TX during his formative years. Charles enlisted in the army at the age of 18, and served in the military for 3 years during World War II. Charles moved to Denver, CO upon returning from the military. He worked many different jobs during his life, including owning and operating Fairfax Laundromat, working for the federal government at Lowry Air Force Base, and in his later age at Hotel Boulderado as the elevator operator.

Charles was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He married his wife Emma J Peters in 1960. Charles and Emma moved their lives to Boulder, CO in the 1970s and remained there until the end of their days. Charles was a family man who liked to ensure his family was always taken care of. He attended Union Baptist under John T Walker, Holy Redeemer church in Denver, and St Aidan's Episcopal church in Boulder.

Charles volunteered for governmental and presidential campaigns during his time in Boulder. He was even lucky enough to win a special raffle to meet President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Charles was a very friendly and talkative man who loved to meet new people and opened his home up to anyone who needed it. He was very charitable and donated to many organizations he believed in. In his final years, Charles was moved to Boulder Manor Nursing Home where he lived out the rest of his days.

Charles left this earth on January 14, 2018. He is survived by his sisters Cordelia and Eva Pearl, his grandchildren Joy, Tiffany and Raven, his great grandchildren (Little) Joy and Jon-Renee, and his stepchildren Greg and Myra Jean. Predeceasing Charles are his wife Emma J, daughter Anita Kay, and siblings Lucille, Thelma, Fannie, Eunice, Booker and Eddie. He will be sorely missed.
