Max was born in Statesville N.C. to the late Forest Thomas Henry and Mabel Frazier Henry Lane and was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jean Willard Henry; son, Gary Henry and sister, Betty Lee Henry.

Max grew up in Staley NC and joined the USAF in 1947. After returning from Korea he met and married Jean Willard in 1951. Together they traveled to Biggs AFB (TX), Beale AFB (CA), Myrtle Beach AFB (SC) Mountain Home AFB (ID) and Shaw AFB (SC). Max was also stationed in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Over the years Max and Jean met and made many lasting friendships across the country.

After retiring Max, Jean and family made their home in Liberty, NC. His 2nd career included work as a contractor, a farmer, hunter and fisherman. He and Jean made many trips to Colorado, Idaho, and Alaska several times taking along their grandchildren. Some of his favorite trips included Caribou hunting in Canada and sitting around the woodstove with his buddies after a day of hunting in the mountains of Colorado.

Surviving are his daughters, Barbara "Bobbie" Fogleman and husband, Roger of Idaho and Cheryl Routh of Staley; grandchildren, Wesley Fogleman, Daniel Fogleman and wife, Samantha, Mikayla Routh and Mary Routh; great-grandchildren, Abigail Fogleman, Jack Fogleman, Blaine Fogleman, Meadow Fogleman, Courtney Fogleman, Charles Fogleman, and Autumn Fogleman.

Because of Max's love for his animals in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Happy Hills Animal Foundation.
