Charles Ingram Shaneyfelt, 75, of Nashville, passed away on Sunday, February 28. He was the son of the late Truman Charles Shaneyfelt and late Pauline Amanda Ingram, both originally of Alabama. He attended Parmer School, Hillsboro High School, and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. In his early career Charles was a hairstylist working with his father who owned salons in Nashville, then subsequently the owner-operator of his own salon, Charles Coiffures, together with his wife, Brenda Brown Shaneyfelt. His passion and talent for metal sculpture eventually became his full-time occupation through his business CharlesCraft Metals, and he was widely recognized in the architectural and interior design community for custom-fabricated architectural metalwork in some of the finest and most unique homes in Nashville and surrounding areas. Charles was a humble, quiet, gracious man, who was dearly loved by his family and friends. He particularly loved wildlife, and his home in the woods. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Brenda, daughters Sheri Francis Shaneyfelt and Shannon Shaneyfelt (Mark) Doyle, grandchildren Henry, Louisa, and Charlie Doyle, sister Amanda Faye Collins, a niece and three nephews, and one grand-niece and four grand-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, starting at twelve o’clock, with memorial service to follow at two o’clock, both at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 33 Burton Hills Blvd, in Green Hills, Nashville, TN.

We have special memories of Charlie and his atristry with metalwork. We knew he was a hair stylist, but were ignorant of his other more noteable skill. When we were wanting to replace lights in our summer home, his name came up as a logical choice to help us. We brought home a small fixture and he copied the intricate design to create two beautiful rustic lights for our great room. He was never able to make it up to New York State to see them in place although he saw a photo of them in the room. Besides that, our boys grew up at Christ Pres alongside Shanon and Sheri in the youth group. We will continue to keep his family in our prayers and look forward to a reunion with Charlie in heaven some day.

Though you will miss him terribly, you believe in the promises of our Lord and Savior, and you know you will be together again one day. Stay faithful, give thanks every day for the wonderful man he was and the gifts of love, faith and courage he gave you. Be at peace. Much love from Jack and Stephanie Jansen

AUNT BRENDA, I AM SO SORRY ABOUT UNCLE CHARLIE. IT'S A SHAME THAT FAMILY'S GO THEIR SEPARATE WAYS AND FOR SOME REASON WHEN THE ONE'S THAT KEPT THE FAMILIES TOGETHER THROUGH GATHERINGS ARE GONE THE SPECIAL GATHERINGS ARE GONE. BUT DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR ME AND UNCLE CHARLIE HAD THE CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. WE TALKED ABOUT PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE AND HAD A FEW LAUGHS. I TRULY ENJOYED THE CHANCE TO KNOW HIM BETTER. WE RELATED IN SO MANY WAYS.I WISH I COULD OF SEEN SOME OF HIS METAL ART AS I LOVE THINGS MADE OUT OF METAL, WHAT AMAZED ME THE MOST ABOUT CHARLIE WAS HE WAS NOT ABOUT TO GIVE IN TO HIS DISABILITY. AND CONTINUED TO LIVE HIS LIFE TO THE FULLEST. BUT I ALSO FEEL THE LOVE OF HIS FAMILY AND GOD IS WHAT KEPT HIM STRONG. GOD BLESS HIM , YOU THE GIRLS AND THE GRANDS. HE WILL BE MISSED. GLAD I GOT TO KNOW YOU UNCLE CHARLIE REST IN PEACE, WHICH I KNOW THAT YOU ARE.

o Brenda and family; I regret we have never met, but Charlie, Sully Horner, David Etherly and I were "Running mates" in our first years @ Hillsboro; 1954-1957, after which my family moved to Norfolk, VA and I only saw Charlie a couple of times when I visited Nashville before 1960. During those "Formative years", I knew Charlie's older brother and sister Deanie, but we all rode motorcycles, and were a bit ruff around the edges. I have a picture of Charlie's Matchless 500 twin that he wrecked into a bridge abutment, (ca) 1956(?).I also have a picture of Charlie & Sully Horner with Charlie's Mom's 1954 Oldsmobile in the background. We were no strangers to fun back in those formative days.
I note that you & Charlie have been married for 54 years: Same as my wife, "Miss Jenny", and me. I deeply regret Charlie's passing away @ this most wonderful time of life, and even more-so for you and the family. I sent Charlie an Email about six months ago, but he never responded, and I didn't follow-up. I should have done more.
Perhaps some day my wife & I can meet with you, share some stories and see pictures of days gone by. Until then, we will continue to keep Charlie, you and the family in our thoughts and prayers.
With our Deepest Sympathy and Sincere Regrets:
John Monroe Smith, and "Miss Jenny":
Captain, USN, (Ret)

Charlie was a good boyhood friend and companion. I have very fond memories of adventures that he, other friends and I had together. He had a great sense of humor that I hope he maintained throughout his life. His mother, brother and sisters were always very good to me. May God grant his family comfort during this most difficult of times.
