On the 9th day of September, 2017, Charles Vernon Thompson, Jr. passed away at his home following a long illness. He was born in Parkersburg, WV to Charles Vernon Thompson, Sr. and Wilma Lucille Thompson on May 15, 1950. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Robin Jenene Barton-Thompson, mother, Wilma Lucille Thompson, son, Matthew Alan Thompson, daughter, Sarah Jane Paxton (Chuck), daughter, Rebecca Lin Thompson, grandson, Jack Parker Paxton, and best friend, G. Ralph Patterson. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Vernon Thompson, Sr. He graduated with the first class at Parkersburg South High School in 1968 and retired from a career at GE Plastics. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church of Vienna, WV. His family would like to thank the Cornerstone Health Care staff, especially Dr. Stephen Hanna, for medical and spiritual guidance, and his nurses, Jackie Ludwig and Julie Allen. Services will be held on September 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV with Pastor John Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on September 12th, 2017 between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church AWAN A Club at P.O. Box 5099, Vienna, WV 26105.
