My most cherished childhood memories involved the Aker Family compound that encompassed our houses on Viers Mill and Gaynor Roads. I remember Uncle Bill making his famous homemade ice cream and we felt so lucky to be the one chosen to get to churn the crank (he knew how to put us to work and we didn't even know it!!!!) He always put up with us kids at the house even if it was raining and we would be inside and he had to sleep during the day because he worked night shift, he and Aunt Elsie never complained and loved and welcomed us. Thanks to both of you for always trying to help Daddy with his issues and always being there for Mom, Donnie and me!!!! You are/were both top notch, very classy, wonderful hearts and always willing to help in any way you could. I am so thankful that you both had so many wonderful years together, you both deserved it. While I am very sad Uncle Bill is no longer with us in body, I feel better knowing he's in heaven watching over us with Daddy, Uncle Smokey, Grandad and Grandma Aker. We have a great Angel team on our side!!! I love all of you, my wonderful cousins and Aunt Elsie. I cherish each and every one of you. XOXOXO

I worked with Charlie for more than 20 years. He was a wonderful man to work with kind, friendly and fun. You could always find Charlie, just follow the smell of his pipe. We will keep him and his family in our prayers.

One of the best persons that ever walked the face of this planet. Charles was a true gentleman and my life was better for having the pleasure of knowing him & working with him at The Washington Post. Charles was a big help to me during my early career days at the Post. I will always remember him as calm, gentle, kind, caring & a genuine person. I still remember his home in Wheaton, Md. & how he loved to work in his garden. I retired from the Post after 42 years, the last 16 years as the Assistant Plant Manager & Night Production Manager at the, now defunct, Southeast Plant & the former College Park Plant.

Dearest Elsie - I will always remember Bill working in his garden in the back yard and playing golf and horseshoes with Dad. He still, in my opinion, makes the best spaghetti sauce on the planet! Thank you for being such wonderful neighbors and friends to our family for all of these years. My prayers are with you and all the family.
Love, Liz (Feakes)
