For me, Uncle Charles was a guide and a friend. He was so wonderful for all he shared with us. I remember how as a young boy, I was so fascinated by all his Navy stories and the films and photographs he had. He had all these cameras and gadgets. He was so understanding, to explain all of these devices to a young boy. He was such an adventurous spirit. I remember how unbelievable I found it, that he owned a pair of snow skis. For a kid from southwest Louisiana, someone who had been to Asia, knew so much about photography, and had skied, he seemed so larger than the simple things I was familiar with.
Uncle Charles was a wonderful story teller and he was also a great listener. I have a childhood memory of going with my Mom & Dad to the Missouri Pacific station. It was the old station by Ryan street. It was very early in the morning. My Mom (Jean [Ardoin] Primeaux) was so anxious as we waited for her brother. When Uncle Charles arrived, there were hugs and a lot of happiness. Uncle Charles had brought me a souvenir. It was a model boat, a cabin cruiser. I played with that boat until I was in High School.
I also remember how wonderful Uncle Charles and Aunt Iline and all the family were for my daughter, Bethany, while she lived in Lake Charles and attended LaGrange. I give my thoughts and prayers for comfort for all the family. Uncle Charles was a wonderful man and I will miss him.
With sympathy, Joe Primeaux & Nancy Primeaux, Clinton, Illinois.
