Charles Henry Baxter, 72, of Albion, Illinois passed away on March 18th, 2014 at 4:45pm at his home on South 8th Street in Albion. Charles was born on March 9th, 1942, the firstborn son of Harold William & Katherine Irene Baxter. Chuck was the first of seven children (Chuck, Vern, Shirley, Tommy, Linda, Lana, & Patty) that were born to Harold & Katherine. Chuck grew up in the Edwards County area and was a graduate of Edwards County High School, Class of 1961. Three years after he graduated, Chuck married his girlfriend Anna Louise (Ashcraft). Chuck & Anna were married on February 9th, 1963. Chuck & Anna have been married for 51 years, 1 week, & 3 days. Chuck worked various jobs over the years but was most proud of his wood working during the later years of his life. Chuck & Anna have 4 children, Trudy Harris (John, Deceased) of Evansville, Indiana, Tammy Pringle (Jim) of Albion, Illinois, Troy Baxter of Mt. Carmel, Illinois and Tiffany Gawthorp (Justin) also of Albion, Illinois. Chuck and Anna have 9 grandchildren, Chris Baxter & his wife Renee of Albion, Rebekah Jones & her husband Chris of Henderson, Tennessee, Nicholas Baxter of Fairfield, Illinois, Rachel Harris of Evansville, Indiana, Talissa Pringle of Albion, Illinois, Dmitri, Temperance, Gracen, & Amadeus Gawthorp all of Albion. Chuck and Anna have 1 Great Grandson, Beau Brantley Baxter. Chuck was preceded in death by both of his parents, both of Anna's parents (Ed & Florence Ashcraft), and his younger brother Tommy.

Funeral service for Charles will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00am at the Church of Christ in Grayville, IL. Burial will be in Union Enterprise cemetery in rural Albion, IL. Visitation will be Friday, March 21, 2014 from 4:00pm until 6:30pm at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, IL.

Memorials may be made to Grayville Church of Christ.

Anna, we are so sorry to hear about Chuck. We did not hear about his passing until today 3/25/14. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We love you so dearly. If we can help you out in any way please contact us.

Anna and children,
We're so sorry to learn of Chuck's passing. Bob Leathers just called today. We'll be thinking of you this evening and tomorrow, as well as the days to come. Chuck was a sweet guy, and we always enjoyed being around him. I recall attending a 4-H meeting or two at the Baxter home.

We know you have lots of family support at this time.
