BONNOR - Charles Griffith Bonnor passed away peacefully at 2:00 p.m., November 11, 2012 with family by his side. Charlie lived a wonderful 90 years and in his words, he "had a good life!". He was comfortable, quick witted and in good humour right to the very end for which the family is eternally grateful. He will be sadly missed by all but not forgotten. Predeceased by infant daughter Judith in 1953 and his beloved wife Betty in 1996 he leaves to mourn son Scott (Shirley), son Garth, daughter Laurie, son Mark (Beth), lone surviving sister Helen Nicholson of Calgary, brother-in-law Dave Rogers of Regina and special friend Flo Guth (nee Foster) of Washington, DC. He also leaves to mourn his ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Charles was born on August 25, 1922 and raised in the Blackwood district between Abernethy and Sintaluta. After serving with the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII he returned home to farm on land that was homesteaded by his father, JL in 1897. He cherished the farm which is blessed with good soil, 'Bonnor rains' and wonderful views. In 1948, he met Betty on a blind date in Calgary. They fell in love and started their lives together on the farm in 1950. After Betty's passing, Charles rekindled a special friendship with his first love and school sweetheart, Florence Foster. They remained close right to the end. Dad said that "it felt good to be loved!". The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Wolesley, SK. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. R. Brian Mee officiating, followed by a lunch and celebration of Charles' life at the Memorial Hall in Sintaluta. A private family interment of cremated remains will take place at Indian Head Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Indian Head Union hospital for what Dad described as tender loving care. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to Friends of the Motherwell Homestead, Box 252, Abernethy, SK SOA OAO or to the Abernethy Agricultural Society, Box 177, Abernethy, SK SOA OAO as tokens of remembrance. "To the Bonnor family, Your father was a good man. As a member of the school board, your dad was fair and respectful of teachers. He was one of the best men..." Hab Love (Regina, SK)
