Charles Stuart Bowcock IV (Chase), passed away suddenly on Friday, June 1, 2012. Chase is the oldest child of Chip and Liza Bowcock, born on July 10, 1996, in Jacksonville, Florida. Chase graduated from Jacksonville Beach Elementary and Landon Middle School, and had just completed his sophomore year with the Fletcher High School AICE program, of which he was proud to be associated. He swam for the Fletcher Senators, proud to represent and belong to an elite team of swimmers, who also became his family. Chase was taking part in the Red Cross/Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue Lifeguard Recruitment program, another organization in which he was proud to be involved. This was the dream job for the active Chase, who enjoyed being in the ocean and surfing with his friends as soon as they found out that the surf was up. This strong, clever, funny, talented, and athletic individual is much loved and will be missed by his friends, even individuals whose lives he touched for just a little while. His friendly demeanor and even friendlier eyes, made this handsome brother, son, and teammate an approachable person. Chase liked to read, and he read everything. He was able to speak to many adults much older than he about books, including classics. Chase had an opinion about politics, foreign and domestic. Chase was a sensitive soul and compassionate artist. He would stay up nights after completing his homework and practice and learn new chords on his guitar. He would listen to his Mom's old vinyl records over and over to learn the music. Chase's drawings always amazed those who saw his art. Chase's writings reflected his personal and intelligent perception of the world, as beautifully reflected in his journal. Chase has many people still here who will celebrate his life. Besides his Momma and Daddy , he has a brother, Nathan, and sister, Lauren. Both will continue to talk about their Chassy stories, and remember what a great big brother he was. Chase's family includes grandparents, Natalio and Rosa Tibay of Norfolk, Virginia, and Stuart and Winnie Bowcock of Melbourne, Florida, Tia Eleanor and Uncle Chris Hite of Beratzhausen, Germany, Tia Natalie of Norfolk, Virginia, Aunt Linda Weis and Aunt Laurie Follit, both of E. Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Aunt Lacey and Uncle Ron Richards of Stanardsville, Virginia. There are numerous cousins from both sides of his family who will memorialize his place on the family tree. Chase's family in Jacksonville Florida, includes all of his friends from Christ Church Preschool, whom he continued to see off and on, and most recently with whom he reconnected via Facebook. His Beaches community always included the staff and classmates from Jacksonville Beach Elementary. Also, he still has friends from his years at Landon Middle School, who will keep his memory alive; as well as friends of his brother and sister who have banded together to give support to both Nathan and Lauren and help cherish his memory. Chase's large family of love extends to his friends from high school, especially Seth and Max; he will be with you in spirit when you graduate from the American Red Cross Life Saving Corp. Brandon, Jacob, Mason, Nathan, he wants you to catch the good waves make those Board Meetings . The Bowcock Family would like to extend their thanks to the Jacksonville and Beaches Community for all their love and support during this time of grieving, especially those who have rallied and been there for Chase's siblings, Nathan and Lauren. All your acts of kindness towards our family will never be forgotten. Many thanks to all the school administrators, teachers and coaches; grief counselors, Father Luke Jernigan and Christ Episcopal Church, Beaches United Methodist Church, and American Red Cross Life Savings Corp.
