Charles Clayton Campbell, age 85 of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born on November 13, 1928 in Middlesboro, KY in his grandmother's home on the Wilderness Trail where Daniel Boone blazed a trail into KY, which always made him proud. Charles was the son of the late Elijah W. and Lottie (Grubb) Campbell. On October 12, 1950 in Middlesboro, KY, he married his childhood sweetheart and wife of over 63 years, Geneva (Arnett) Campbell. Charles was Baptist in faith and served in the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany as a Staff Sergeant 5th Infantry Division. He was employed at National Lead Company and retired from General Motors. Charles was a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan and avid fisherman. He was a devoted, loving and much-loved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed. Charles is survived by his wife, Geneva; sons, Charles Ronald (Cindy) Campbell of Bermuda and Bryan Craig Campbell of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Collin of Edinburgh, Scotland, Connie of Leeds, England, and Kirstyn and Brendan, both of Lexington, KY; siblings, June (Donald) Anderson of Pinellas Park, FL and Robert W. Campbell of Corydon, IN; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Arnett, Trula Ridnour and Joy Stevens; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Betty Sue Hermann and Alma L. Vaughn who passed away on February 17, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton with Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home from 1pm until 2pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jennifer B. Winters and Dr. Michael I. Gabrilovich for the loving care they both gave to Charles.
