Hynes- Charles O. Hynes 61, of Clinton, died Sunday April 1, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Sherry Lee (Koch) Hynes. Charles was born in Norwich CT. son of Phillip Thomas and Mary (Metz) Hynes Jr. Mr. Hynes was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy and the University of Connecticut. Prior to becoming a police officer for the town of Clinton, Charlie was employed by the Armstrong Rubber Company in West Haven, and then as a sanitarian with the Hamden Health Department. Hynes- Charles O. Hynes 61, of Clinton, died Sunday April 1, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Sherry Lee (Koch) Hynes.
Charles was born in Norwich CT. son of Phillip Thomas and Mary (Metz) Hynes Jr. Mr. Hynes was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy and the University of Connecticut. Prior to becoming a police officer for the town of Clinton, Charlie was employed by the Armstrong Rubber Company in West Haven, and then as a sanitarian with the Hamden Health Department. Charlie was a proud member of the Clinton Police Department from 1978-2003, retiring as Deputy Chief. He was a founding member of the Clinton Police Department Dive Team. He was also a member of the Clinton Police Department Marine Patrol. Charlie also was a volunteer with the Clinton Fire Department Ambulance Division. Upon retiring from the Clinton Police Department, Charlie became a baseball umpire. He was an avid boater and snowmobilier and loved the outdoors, but above all, Charlie was devoted to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Sherry Lee Hynes, his four loving children, Charles Hynes Jr. and his wife Kristy Cardillo Hynes and their children (Charlie's two grandchildren), Lily Caroline Hynes and Daniel Thomas Hynes. Kristy Hynes Dean and her husband Ephraim Dean, Dr. Emalee Collins and her husband William Collins, and John Phillip Hynes. He also leaves two siblings, Maryanne Rogers and Phillip Hynes III and their families, and his mother in law Caroline Koch. Visitation will be Tuesday April 3, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the Swan Funeral Home 80 East Main Street Clinton. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his name may be made to the Clinton PBA 170 East Main Street Clinton Ct. 06413 or to the Clinton Rotary P.O. Box 588 Clinton Ct. 06413.
