Mr. Jeane, 91, was born in Leesville, LA and lived most of his life in Slagle, LA. He was a graduate of Pickering High School and retired from Civil Service as Chief of Roads and Grounds at Fort Polk after 36 years of service.
Bill was a member and deacon of Slagle Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran, a member of NH Bray Masonic Lodge #208, where he once served as Master. He was a 32nd degree Mason and also a Shriner.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his church and community, and spending time with family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Dale Jeane; his parents, Charlie and Ola Jeane; brothers, John, Ray, Maxie, Garner and Jimmy; two sisters, Charlotte Smith and Nadine Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Wills Jeane of Slagle; two sons, Craig Jeane and his wife, Mary of Slagle, Tommy Jeane and his wife Patty of Slagle; one brother, Gary Jeane and his wife JoAnn of Mina, NV; two sisters, Glo Lester and her husband, Jack of Deridder, Nelva Sauls of Deridder; also two granddaughters, Kimberleigh Welch and her husband C.B., Michele Goins and her husband Scotty; one grandson, Tony Jeane and his wife Nona; seven great-grandchildren.
