Charles Horace "Woozie" Porter, 72 of Maysville (Fernleaf) died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Ella Pollitt Porter. He was born in Maysville on August 4, 1939 the son of the late James H. and Stella Claypoole Porter. Mr. Porter was a member of the Highland Christian Church. He served a tour of four years in the US Navy on the USS Canberra. Mr. Porter retired from Emerson as a supervisor in 2002 after thirty-six years of service. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ella Cummins and Melissa Hay (David) of Maysville and three grandchildren, Kayla Marie Cummins, Taylor Landen Hay and Charles David Hay all of Maysville; two sisters, Barbara Dodge of Tollesboro and Elizabeth "Bibby" Anderson (Bill) of Winchester, KY and one brother Thomas A. "T.A." Porter (Sonya) of Maysville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, James H. Porter, II, William R. Porter, Franklin D. Porter, Lawrence H. Porter and John E. Porter. Funeral services for Charles H. Porter will be held at the Highland Christian Church at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 27, 2011 with Brother Bruce Heller officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM. Memorials may be made to Cancer Fighter's United, 4047 Kentucky 10, Maysville, KY 41056.
