Mr. Charles O. Shamberger, age 80, of Lynn, died on July 24, 2013 at the VA Medical Center, Bedford, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Johanna (Surerus) Shamberger, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Gloucester on December 7, 1932, and educated in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Oliver C. and Edith M. (Tait) Shamberger. He lived in Lynn for many years. Charles served in the U. S. Navy, and then the U. S. Army for a total of 26 years. He served in Korea and also served in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star medal. A Sergeant First Class, he retired in 1978. He then worked for G.E. in the River Works...

Born in Gloucester on December 7, 1932, and educated in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Oliver C. and Edith M. (Tait) Shamberger. He lived in Lynn for many years.
Charles served in the U. S. Navy, and then the U. S. Army for a total of 26 years. He served in Korea and also served in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star medal. A Sergeant First Class, he retired in 1978. He then worked for G.E. in the River Works Plant.
In addition to his wife, he leaves six children, Mary and Bob Hazelwood, Henry Shamberger, Jeanette Shamberger, John Shamberger and his wife Teresa, Mike Shamberger, and Oliver Shamberger and Michael Maloon, eleven grandchildren, Michael, Danielle, Tiffany, Monika, Nicholas, Taylor, Zoe, Kira, Alfred, Kirk and Marguerite, three great-grandchildren Cassidy, Chloe and Olivia, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
