Charles Swallow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 30, 2012.

Charles Ronald "Ronny" Swallow, 81, passed away November 22, 2012 . Born in Dayton he lived most of his life in Centerville , Dayton and Wilmington . Graduating Centerville High School in 1948 and joining the U.S. Air Force, he married high school sweetheart, Phyllis Martin Swallow in Biloxi , MS in 1952. After Phyllis passed in July, 2012, he soon followed after 61 years of marriage and devotion.
Ronny worked for years as a TV repairman at Frantz TV before retiring to build his own house in the late 1970s. He was an avid reader who loved science and wood working. He was a strong silent person who lived and loved a simple life. Often visiting parks and the woods with his family he instilled a love of the outdoors in each of his three sons. Games of euchre, spades, croquet and badminton were many. Family dinners were cherished.
At the end, he faced his battle with Alzheimer's with courage and grace. Ronny lived life on his terms. His final thoughts were of his beloved Phyllis, his children and his childhood beagles that would lick his face.
Ronny was preceded in death his parents, Robert and Mildred Hunter Swallow and by his sisters, Karen Morgan and Sue Donohue. He is survived by sons Steve (Jan Cannon), Bob and Ron; grandchildren Jason and Chelsea Swallow, Charlie Swallow and Ashley (Drew) Miller, great-granddaughter Rory Miller as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday, December 3 from 6-8pm with funeral services Tuesday, December 4 at 1 pm . All arrangements are by TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio. On line condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com

Both Ronny and Phyllis worked for me at the BP station on 71&73 back in the 90's. I could not have asked for two better people. Both were loved by all of us.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad worked at my dad's store. He was a sweet, quiet man. He watched all of us grow up. We just lost our dad on October 1st. Please accept our sympathy.

Dear Steve,Bob and Ron , We are so sorry to see that your Father has passed! He was a gentle spirit and a kind man. We remember him repairing our old TV and building in the closets in our house. It's been a long time ago!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Our families lived across from each other way back when and we all played together and our families were fond of each other and kept in touch. My deepest sympathies and may God be with you.
