Charlie Poole, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 16th, 2013. He spent his last days surrounded by family and friends after fighting a brave battle with cancer. Charlie will be remembered for his love of Jesus and his love of family. Charlie was born in Warren, Arkansas on May 3, 1949 to James and Mary Poole. He graduated from Warren High School, and then attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He then attended the University of Texas at Dallas, where he graduated with a Master's in Environmental Safety and Pollution Control.
While in college, Charlie was a member of the choir and was on a statewide tour when he met the love of his life, Ruby Hall of Fort Smith. The two were married in a private ceremony on June 24, 1972. Throughout their marriage, they relocated several times for Charlie's career. While living in Little Rock, Charlie and Ruby enjoyed going to Arkansas Razorback's games. They eventually settled in Dallas, Texas where they started a family. In 1991, Charlie and Ruby welcomed their daughter Tracy. Charlie was a devoted husband and a loving father who always put his family first. Charlie and Tracy enjoyed reading Harry Potter books and looking at the stars. Charlie was part of a large, loving family. He is preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents, Freda and G.C. Poole, and Eric and Pearl Collins, and his father-in-law Robert Hall. Growing up, Charlie loved spending time with his family in Warren, including his aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife Ruby and daughter Tracy of Memphis, brother James and wife Sue of Fordyce, brother Robert and wife Audrey of Myrtle Beach, sister-in-law Brenda of Fort Smith, and sister-in-law Crystal of Washington. Charlie was particularly fond of his nieces Taylor, Hallee, and Lindsey, and his great-nephew Robert, all of Fort Smith. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew him. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 pm on Friday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Edwards Funeral Home with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nick Smith, Blake Piechocki, Jeff Jackson, Matt Poole, Mark Poole, and Josh Hale. Honorary pall bearers are David Gannaway, Peter Smykla, Ron Helmedag, and Karl Osborn. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to www.edwardsfuneralhome.com

My condolences to the family. I am proud Charlie called me his friend. We worked together at Texas Instruments. Later, when Charlie had moved to another company he used me in my consulting practice. He was a man of his word and his handshake was as good as a written contract. The world has lost a good man. Roy Kinslow (Dallas TX)

What CAN'T you say about the man - Charlie Poole ... his dedication to his family and faith will be remembered with also the type of man he was and how he led his life, all, mind you FOR the two lucky ladies in his life, Ruby and Tracy ... we are mourning a loved one this week, but in the near future, we will be remembering his personality, his smile, his laid back gentle giant approach to life and dealings with people. God blessed this man with the love of his life Ruby and both of them blessed with a perfect daughter Tracy and such close family. We Love you Ruby and Tracy and your man will be greatly missed by whomever he touched. I Love you Charlie, you are the best!
