Obituary

Columbus Charlotte M. Aldenhagen, 88, of Columbus, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Charlotte formerly was a receptionist at Arvin Industries and also worked for Brands Inc. and Don R. Scheidt & Co. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder and Deaconess. She was also a member of Phi Mu Sorority at Indiana University and served as President for Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Charlotte M. Aldenhagen, 88, of Columbus, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Charlotte formerly was a receptionist at Arvin Industries and also worked for Brands Inc. and Don R. Scheidt & Co.

She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder and Deaconess. She was also a member of Phi Mu Sorority at Indiana University and served as President for Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Charlotte had served on the Youth Camp Board, had been co-chairman of the Family Self Sufficiency Board and assisted in many fund raisers for the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the United Way. She was a volunteer with Volunteers in Medicine.

She served as a board member and director for Girls Club of Columbus from 1946 to 1948, and was the Teenage Director for the Phoenix, AZ, YWCA from 1948 to 1960.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Scott Hill officiating. A reception will be held afterward in the Laws Room at the church. In keeping with Charlotte's wishes, cremation is planned.

Arrangements were made by Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street.

Born in Columbus Oct. 4, 1924, Charlotte was the daughter of Dallas and Elizabeth L. Weiber Hook. She married Robert W. Aldenhagen May 30, 1948, in Columbus. He preceded her in death in December 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth Aldenhagen of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Ann Aldenhagen, in April 2007, and an infant son, Michael Aldenhagen.
