Deane Fox Allen, age 73, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, at a local hospital after a long illness.
She was born August 29, 1937 in Hampton, Tennessee to the late Zula Mae Nave and Hunter Furches. Her mother died when she was a baby and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Elbert L. and Lorine Furches Fox of Ooltewah, Tennessee.
A 1955 graduate of Tyner High School she attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She spent most of her life in Montezuma, Georgia where she raised her family. Deane was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Currently she was associated with Ooltewah United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Judson Allen, III and her parents, Elbert L. and Lorine Fox.
Survivors include her two daughters, Loren Stephens and husband Steve Stephens, of Montezuma, GA., Rachel Rutledge and husband Chris Rutledge, of Chattanooga, TN., grandchildren, Tripp Stephens, of St. Simmons, GA., Taylor Stephens, Jessie Stephens, both of Montezuma, GA., Judson Allen, IV, of Grovetown, GA., Christopher Rutledge, Owen Rutledge, Sam Rutledge, all of Chattanooga, TN., great granddaughter, Claudia Spradley, of Montezuma, GA., and sister, Jan Furches Roberts, of Atlanta, GA.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Amy Nutt officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to PBS or the Samaritan Center.
