Cheryl Anne Kennison, 62, Centralia, MO passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Woodcrest Chapel, 2201 W. Nifong, Columbia, MO. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 4:00 pm at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Piet Van Waarde.
Cheryl was born on November 26, 1953 in Sioux City, IA the daughter of Lionel and Mazine (Miller) Bertrand. Her father survives of Shelbina, MO and her mother preceded her in death. She was married on December 18, 1982 in Shelbina, MO to Scott Kennison who survives of the home.
Cheryl loved caring for Scott, her children, and grandchildren. She lived a selfless life, always putting others needs ahead of her own. She was strong and courageous as she conquered cancer. She was an amazing cook and her pies were “State Fair Blue Ribbon Quality.” She never had to measure anything and they always turned out perfect.
She loved her new adventure of camping with Scott and Isabelle. They especially loved being at the State Fair with Brad, Kelly and their family.
Grandma Cheryl was the trendiest of grandmas and had an edgy style. She was never afraid to have fun. She loved to dance to any kind of music, especially in the camper with Charlize.
Chery loved Christ and loved being at church with her family. We will miss holding her hand as she sat next to us in the seats. Her warm hands always warmed our hearts.
She was the greatest cheerleader at whatever endeavor her family pursued. Never missing any sport, game, rodeo, or talent competition.
Cheryl was beautiful inside and out. Her love language was serving others. She went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Anyone who knew her loved her, and she loved them back.
Cheryl gave us laughter when we were down, she was our ray of sunshine in the rain, she showed us strength during life’s struggles, she gave us comfort when we had tears, and now she has gone ahead of us to light the way.
Other survivors include three sons, Casey Kendrick (Marni) of Hannibal, MO, Charles Kendrick (Kacie) of Ellsinore, MO and Adam Kendrick (Crystal) of Columbia, MO; one daughter, Rebecca Fitzpatrick (Farron) of Columbia, MO; two sisters, Christina Fifer and Mary Jo Becker; two brothers, Terry Bertrand and Brad Bertrand (Kelly); eight grandchildren, Mason, Josh, Rylee, Landon, Mariah, Alyssa, Austin, and Charlize; mother-in-law, Doris Kennison and sister-in-law, Donetta Murray (Ronnie). She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, Don Kennison.

My Beautiful Wonderful Sister is gone.,
I just read everyone's posts 1 year later.
I'm full of sorrow and pain.
I can't seem to move on.
All my love sis. You were my only family I could tell anything to.
God knows I miss you.
I couldn't even put your rosary in your hands. I see you all the time in my dreams with mommy.
Soon I will see you again sis.

Cheryl and I were good friends when we were kids, clear through having our own kids. After I divorced my first husband and went to work full time...I lost track of her, and her life. I sadly regret not taking time to be her friend. I started my friendship with Cheryl on the first day of school in Paris, first grade. I rode the bus, as we lived in the country. I got to the school and didn't know where to go, so I sat down behind the door, crying. Cheryl asked me, "what's wrong little girl?" She was the same age as me, but so much braver. She took me by the hand and led me inside to class. That memory popped into my head when I heard of her tragic accident. My mom and I attended the service on Sunday evening. By the wonderful pictures, it looked like she had a full, happy life. She was always smiling. I didn't know she fought cancer. I wondered what kind of cancer? I sadly regret missing out on her friendship all these years. I pray for all of her family during this terrible time. Linda Crow

Becky,
Recently we spoke about cancer and how your mom overcame it twice. So sorry for your loss of your mother. Even though, we only met her a few times, she raised a good daughter and Christian woman.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

To Cheryl's family, all of you are in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time and in the following days and weeks ahead. I remember Cheryl the best from our time at teen town through our teenage years and then later married to Kenny. I remember Cheryl always having a smile on her face. She always just looked cute as a button. She had a beautiful soul back then. Her passing is just a terrible tragedy and a great loss to all of her family and friends but what a prize heaven has gained.
