Passed away on March 14, 2012 in Davenport, WA. He was born on December 8, 1919 in Wilbur, Washington to Elwin and Anna Axtell. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki and Craig Popp; two grandchildren, Andrea Popp and Travis Popp and his fiancé, Kalie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo; his son, Monte Axtell, and his two brothers: Howard and Gordon. He was a Wilbur High School graduate. He attended Wilbur Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Almira Farmers Warehouse and past board member. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilbur Presbyterian Church with Pastor Heather Jepsen, officiating. A Graveside service will follow at Wilbur Cemetery, Wilbur, WA. Memorials may be made to the Wilbur Cemetery Endowment Care Fund or to the Wilbur Ambulance & EMTs. Strate Funeral Home, Wilbur, WA is caring for the family.

Vicki, I did not know your father but for a short 3 1/2 years. Billie and I really enjoyed him and his friends when they came into The Rendezvous to have a meal with us. Chet was truly a very nice man. Peggy Watson

Your Dad became very special to me in latter years. One day, we had quite a lengthy conversation in the old "Bubba's". After that, he attended our church for quite some timeand I always enjoyed our visits. I'm sorry for your loss. It's so final...Judy & David Lindhag
