Chloe Curtis-Cherkassky 95, of Colonial Drive, Keene, NH, died October 24, 2013 at her home in Keene where she had resided since 1976. She was born in Brockton, MA, May 14, 1918, the daughter of Clarence E. Curtis and Chloe S. (Tallman) (Curtis) Lapham. She resided in Middleboro, MA for the first 22 years of her life and was a 1938 graduate of Memorial High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Degree in 1968 from Boston University. Chloe Curtis-Cherkassky 95, of Colonial Drive, Keene, NH, died October 24, 2013 at her home in Keene where she had resided since 1976.

She was born in Brockton, MA, May 14, 1918, the daughter of Clarence E. Curtis and Chloe S. (Tallman) (Curtis) Lapham. She resided in Middleboro, MA for the first 22 years of her life and was a 1938 graduate of Memorial High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Degree in 1968 from Boston University.

Mrs. Curtis-Cherkassky was a group insurance contract terminologist at the John Hancock Insurance Company of Boston, and a reporter at the Hancock Weekly News.

She was a member of the Appalachian Mountain club; the Historical Society of Cheshire County; the Middleborough Historical Association; Lakeville Historical Society; Middleborough Library Friends and a member of the Church of Our Saviour in Brookline, MA where she was a member of the church choir.

She was an avid letter writer; reader of non-fiction; and an enthusiast of music from the baroque to the classical period including operas and symphonies of which, she had a collection of compact discs. She especially loved attending the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, Esplanade Concerts and the Civic Symphony Orchestra of Boston, where she enjoyed watching her husband play the violin or when he was a frequent guest conductor.

She also appreciated nature paintings of which appeared inside and outside her house. Her flower gardens were enjoyed by neighbors and visitors. Being an animal lover, she had adopted unwanted adult dogs and cats over several years.

Mrs. Curtis-Cherkassky is survived by several nephews, nieces and cousins. Her husband, Paul Cherkassky, died in 1973. A sister, Virginia Curtis, died in 2004.

Funeral services and burial in the Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MA will be private.
