Chris Sprague McCoy,58, of Glasford was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 9:45 PM on September 13, 2013 succumbing to overwhelming injuries incurred six years prior, June 29, 2007.
Born on March 2, 1955, Chris was the son of William D. and Betty (Sprague) McCoy of Glasford, Illinois. His father preceded him in death on September 13, 2000.
Chris is survived by his loving and devoted mother with whom he made his home. Betty tirelessly stood at his bedside for years and demonstrated the full capacity of the love, care, and compassion a mother has for her child. Her dedication to his care and well-being is unmatched on this earth. Also surviving are his beautiful daughter Savannah (Mike) Cheatham and spitting image son Christian J. Sprague McCoy(fiancé Ewelina), his grandson Caden Michael Cheatham, Brother Kevin (Cindie) McCoy, sister Kimberly (William) Harris and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that will forever remember his warm embrace, contagious laughter and fun-loving personality.
Chris worked for several years as a serviceman for Sears. He also owned and operated his own appliance and repair business and last worked at Illini Bluffs School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, family gatherings and pretty much everything he did. He raced stock cars in his 20's, owned a pet store and was always up for trying something new and adventurous.
Chris's greatest passion in life was his love for and relationship with his Heavenly Father. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and was a witness to everyone he met. Over the years his testimony was spread to a countless number of people whom he knew through his home place of worship Glasford Baptist Church, churches he visited, his service at the mission and with Victory Acres, side jobs he performed or his willingness to help anyone with enthusiasm and bold service to the Lord. He was a lifelong member of the
Glasford Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader. In large part, many lives were changed because of his unabashed commitment to spreading God's Word to those he shared life with.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at the Glasford Baptist Church, 209 E. Fifth St. Glasford, Illinois. Pastors Paul Cook and Frank Brozenec will officiate. Family graveside services will be held at a later date in Lancaster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Chris's honor to the Glasford Baptist Church. The Davison Fulton Woolsey Glasford Chapel is in charge of arrangements. You may create an online condolence at www.davisonfwoolsey.com.
2 Timothy 4:7&8 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." Chris ran the race of a lifetime, one with mountains and valleys with the last six years being a marathon. His heart was devoted and strong and his Faith was courageous. His family is confident that he was welcomed at the finish line with jubilant cheers and open arms.

"Betty and family, So sorry for your loss. Had the pleasure of caring for Chris on several occasions. Can only imagine that he is marveling at his new..." Yvonne Hardin (Metamora, IL)
