Christella (McClintock) Knowlton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2010.

Christella Lynn (McClintock) Knowlton, originally from Indiana. Christella L. (McClintock) Knowlton 50 was born in New Castle, Indiana to Herbert and Beverly McClintock on March 13, 1959 and died in Phoenix on February 17, 2010. Chris was a day care provider for 20 years helping raise hundreds of children. She married Douglas A. Knowlton January 17, 1976 in Phoenix at the Church of Christ where they attend. She is survived by her husband of 34 years Doug, children Brent, Allyse, and Nathan; three grown children Kaden, and Aryia, and KayLynn, brothers Kevin and Lonnie (David), sisters Tina and Debra Wee. In the past five years she began her fight to conquer cancer. In that time she became a avid nutritionist, learning and teaching all the different ways to fight sickness and disease. Though she was fighting her self, she was there for everyone else helping them get through their trials, She lived a life of faith and had a strong relationship with God. She loved her family and she will be missed by all those who knew her. We love her very, very much and know she is going to a better place. Funeral Services will be Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary located at 7924 N. 59 Ave. in Glendale Arizona. Visitation will be two hours before the funeral at the mortuary. Burial will be in Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Arizona.

Aunt Chris was one of the greatest people I have ever been blessed enough to know. She was always there for anyone who needed her, including me. She taught me many important lessons about life; about how to communicate with God and how to bring Him into my life. I have many memories of her, and in all of them she was happy, loving, and bright-eyed. Never once did I question her. She will always be in my heart and memories. I loved her very much.

Dear Doug and Family,
I just found this memorial online today, and am very very sorry to learn of Chris's passing.
Chris and I met in Indiana in about 1967 when we were in the 4th grade. We became best friends. When my parents moved my family to Scottsdale, Arizona, Chris talked her parents into moving to Arizona several months later, and lo and behold we ended up living right around the corner from each other. We were inseparable for several years until our early years of high school, when Chris's family moved across town to the west side of Phoenix.
We have continued contact over the last 40 years. Unfortunately, it has been several years since I've been able to visit Chris in person.
But whenever we did see one another, there were many remembrances and laughs over silly things we did in our early teens.
Thank you Doug, for encouraging Chris to contact me and pursue a renewed and continued friendship with me after she met you and we got separated by distance during our high school years.
Chris became an enduring and trusted friend who prayed for me and encouraged me over the years.
My life was enriched by her presence in it and I will miss her yearly letters and pictures!
Much love to you all,

February 28, 2010

To Doug, Brent, Danielle (Alyse) Nathan,Jen, Beverly and the rest of the family: We love all of you and we love Chris very much. She was such an inspiration by her faith in the Almighty God and by being prepared to meet her maker. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, give a hug or just to give an encouraging word. My husband Mike and I will miss you until we meet again. Love always, Mike & Pam Concho, AZ

Dear Allyse and Knowlton family,

I want to start of by saying i am so very sorry for your loss. I will miss Chris dearly and she will always be in my heart. I have many memories of Chris as me and her daughter Allyse were best friends for several years. My biggest regret was not keeping in touch like i should. Chris was a big part of our family, i use to go over there almost every day after school and almost every weekend. I remember going to church several times with the family. I have alot more memories but i will be writing for ever if i keep on going, but those memories i will never forget. Chris was such a beautiful person inside and out and she will never be forgotton. She was such a postitive person, a way i think alot of people should be.She loved her family and all the children she cared for unconditionally. One thing i will always remember is Chris was like my second mom, I know i could always go to Chris for the best advice. Please accept my deepest sympothies for your loss. I love you all so very much and you will be in my thoughts.

Love Always

When I first heard Chris was ill I sent her notes, letters and a card with David and Golitha on the front with more encourageing words. Last night I was sitting with my grandkids. I was thinking about Chris with tears in my eyes, when I notice on my daughters' mantel a book, 'David and Golitha'. I thought how appropiate. God bless you all, McClintocks and Knowltons. Chris will never be forgotten.

First I want to tell the Knowlton family how very sorry I am for their loss. I wish that I could be there for you and to be able to tell Chris just how much she meant to me one last time. Since I am unable to be there I am left with looking at a blank screen, next to a beautiful picture of an angel named Mama Chris. I am so saddened that the world does not have you in it anymore. You are the definition of an angel. Almost 22 years have passed and I can only hope that you know how important you have been to me. What an impact you made in my life and the life of my children. You were my saving grace at one of the lowest times of my life. You loved unconditionally, cared for my children as if they were your own. You were forever smiling and providing words of wisdom filled with love. December 1993 you wrote in the bible that you gave to me: “God’s love is abundant and free” “God’s Love Cleanses” God’s Grace keeps and God’s Power saves through His Son Jesus Christ” Thank you Mama Chris for being our angel here on earth and showing us first hand God’s Love, God’s Power and God’s grace. We will forever hold you in our hearts!!!

To Allyse and the Knowlton Family:

First off may i say my thoughts and prayers are with your family in this time of loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Chris for the past three years of my life. She welcomed me into her home like i was one of her own children. As a family we all shared many laughs, and tears together. I went to Doug and Chris for advice like they were my own parents and regardless of the time, day or night they were always willing to help when i needed it.I will always cherish the time we all spent together. To Doug, Allyse, Brent and Nathen, Chris is an angel and will always be with you!!
My deepest sympathies and love,
Mike Tammaro

To the Knowlton Family,

I only had the pleasure of meeting Chris one time. It was obvious that she was a warm loving woman by her radiant smile and how she welcomed me into her home. I came to know Chris through my son, Michael Tammaro. Chris and Doug welcomed my son into their Family with open loving arms and made him feel a part of their family. I will forever be grateful for the love you have shown him.

Your loss is heart felt and I pray that God embraces each and every member of your family with peace and strength during this difficult time. Know that her love is endless.

How do you put into words all the memories of someone who so touched your life and the lives of others – where do you even begin. Chris was a beautiful person and shared her love of life and beautiful spirit with all those around her. She always had a smile for everyone and was a person that I looked up to. I think of Chris with deep admiration and respect and believe that if I could live my life to even just a fraction of how she lived hers, then that’s what God would want. Her loving devotion to God and her family was unmeasured and never wavering. Chris was not just a day care provider, but was the mother to my children for 10 years when I could not be there. She instilled values and shared her sense of spirit with my children and cared for them as they were her own. She even taught me things (without me even knowing!) about motherhood for which I am forever grateful. Chris was the only person I ever met who could take care of 10 children at one time, and love each one individually like they were the only child there. Just like every adult who was blessed to meet Chris, every child that ever left her caring arms, lives a better life because of what she shared with them. She was a neighbor and friend that lit up the neighborhood with her smile and her loving spirit. We will miss her dearly but we celebrate the life she lived and we will forever cherish her memory. Doug and family, please know that we, and others that you and Chris have so touched through the years, are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
