Christine Laura Ferguson, 87, of Bartlett passed away, Tuesday July 24, 2012 in a Temple hospital. She was born December 25, 1924 in Tuscola, Texas to David Henry Jones and Carrie Bell Mullins Jones. She married Virgil W. Ferguson on March 13, 1941 in View, Texas.
She worked as head cook for the Bartlett ISD for eleven years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Davilla and attended the First Baptist Church of Bartlett. She volunteered with the Capital Area Food Bank and was a member of the Bartlett senior citizens. Christine was very nurturing especially to families in hours of need. She was very patriotic and supported various veterans' organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, her six sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son Virgil R. Ferguson and wife Linda of Bartlett, two daughters: Barbara Sandobal of Bartlett and Patsy Bennett and husband Tim of Topeka, Kansas: grandchildren, Lori Ferguson Alejandro, Kim Ferguson, Jason Ferguson, Barton Lange, Clinton Sandobal, Ciprian Sandobal, Melissa Kozak, Joe Tomczek and David Tomczek: fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Goodnight Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Goodnight Funeral Home.
Christine Ferguson will be laid to rest in Bartlett City Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial be made to Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department or the USO.
