Chris Nadler, a longtime executive at Hot 97/Emmis Communications and a familiar face on the New York music scene for decades, died on Friday. Further details were not available at press time.

A press release issued by Emmis on Saturday reads in part: "We at Emmis Communications and Hot 97 are devastated by the news that one of our own has passed away. Chris Nadler was an incredibly talented, dedicated and passionate professional very widely respected by peers and colleagues.

"Chris began his career at Emmis Communications in 1999 as the Sales Record Label Account Manager and has served in several key positions throughout his career, most recently as the Lifestyle Engagement Director for Hot 97, producing the Hot 97 Summer Jam Festival Stage and the monthly Who's Next Artist Showcase at S.O.B's in Manhattan. His career accomplishments are too great to list and his influence and impact on artists, music and marketing will live on."

Nadler also worked for Musicland/Sam Goody during the 1990s, among other positions.

In a statement, Hot 97 SVP/General Manager Alex Cameron said: "There are no words to express how stunned and saddened I and the whole Emmis staff are as Chris was a long-time and widely cared for Emmis NY family member. He was a fantastic, creative and dynamic professional that can never be replaced. More importantly, he was a generous, selfless, person of integrity with a great sense of humor and true friend to so many. He was a dad, a husband, a colleague and dear friend. I certainly count him as one of my close friends and a special part of Emmis that will always, always be remembered.

"We will mourn and remember Chris, and we will also celebrate his life and the significant accomplishments of this incredibly cheerful, unique and warm individual. The massive outpouring of sadness and many fond memories are a testament to Chris. He was simply one of the best human beings that I've ever known and I know everyone at Emmis would echo that sentiment. Saying that Chris will be missed is an understatement and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children."

A touching tribute from Hot 97's Big Dennis reads: "Rest in peace to my boy Chris Nadler. I can't stop crying man.. he was such a good man and a pleasure to work with. Hot97 was so much better because of his work behind the scenes. I will never forget my boy!!! this is a very sad night for me."

The station's Angie Martinez retweeted Dennis' tribute, saying "Devastated," and Pete Rosenberg tweeted: "I jwoke up to the news of us losing Chris Nadler.he was the best person, great friend.. and such an amazing dad..well miss you forever friend I cannot even tell you how many HUGE and small artists owe a lot of love to Chris Nadler..he tirelessly worked so other people could shine." Matt Pinfield tweeted: "I am devastated by the lost of my dear friend Chris Nadler whose spirit, positivity and love of music helped make RXP and Hot 97 shine."
