On May 12, 2017, Clara Lopez Corpus, peacefully entered the arms of her God and went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Awaiting her homecoming were her husband, Aurelio; her parents, Jose and Ymelda Lopez; five sisters, Mary L. Ruiz, Ruby L. Prieto, Jessica L. Trevino, Aurora L. Rocha and Hope L. Martinez and four brothers, Ralph, Salvador, Raymond, and Gabriel Lopez.
The holy rosary will be recited at 7:00PM at Connally Compton Funeral Directors on Sunday, May 14.
A celebration mass will be held in her name at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2621 Bagby on Monday, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Red Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery following the mass.
Clara was born in Waco, TX on August 12, 1932, a short time later the family moved Chicago, IL and she lived there until returning to Waco in 1947.
She married Aurelio Corpus on Oct. 17, 1955 and they resided in Waco until his death in 2015.
Clara received her education in Chicago and Waco schools, she graduated from McLennan Community College with a certificate in pharmacy and was employed in Hillcrest Medical Hospital for twenty four years where she retired. As a young girl, she also worked many years at South Waco Day Care and many of the children she lovingly helped care for there still remember her as "Miss Clara" to this day.
She is survived by one sister, Gloria Arechiga and husband Robert, of Hewitt, TX; two brother-in-laws, Frank V. Trevino, of San Antonio, TX and Arthur Prieto, of Chicago, IL; one sister-in-law, Margaret Lopez, of Aurora, IL. She will be remembered lovingly by all her many nieces and nephews and will be missed especially by her three nieces and nephew, Maggie Hernandez, Liza Hernandez, Kristen Hernandez Arechiga and Louis J. Arechiga, Sr. They had many good times and laughter with her, in their growing years and when she could no longer care for herself they supported and cared for her until her death.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandnephews, Marcos Hernandez, Esteban Hernandez, Adan Hernandez and nephews, Mark Lopez and Robert Daniel Martinez.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the loving angels of Providence Hospice Care and to Senior Care of Hewitt. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Father Raj of St. Jerome Catholic Church for his Thursday visit with prayers and comforting words for the family and to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for their weekly visits and prayers.
