All four of her older siblings have passed away. Clara is also survived by 1 brother-in law, James White of Ft. Myers, FL.
Clara attended a one-room school house, which is now known as Cook's School House for elementary school and Naples Central School for high school. Clara married Robert Babcock, of Prattsburgh in 1941. They had 4 children. Linda is married to John Wetherbee and lives in Dillsburg PA. Leslie is married to the former Cathy Smith and lives in Prattsburg, NY. Patricia is married to Curt Howe and lives in Ringgold GA. Martha is married to Tom Parker and lives in Clarksville TN. Clara and Bob were active members of the Prattsburgh Baptist Church and the Ingleside Christian Church for many years.
Robert Babcock passed away in January of 2000, and Clara continued to reside in Prattsburgh until her move to Dillsburg, PA in November of 2009 to live with her daughter. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown PA. After suffering a broken hip, Clara was moved to Forest Park Health Center in Carlisle PA., where she resided until her death. She died of Congestive Heart failure on Sunday. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends living all over the country.
Clara demonstrated her love for the Lord and for people throughout her life. She loved the farm where she and Bob reared their children and where she tended vegetable and flower gardens. She taught 4-H cooking and sewing skills to farm youth for many years. Clara was kept busy taking her children and their friends to Area Youth for Christ activities. She always had an interest in missions and served as the church missionary treasurer. Clara became known as the "Mitten Lady" as she made hundreds of mittens for people. We will miss her godly example of faith and love and look forward to seeing her again someday.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, Dec 8th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Ingleside Christian Church and the memorial celebration will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 9th also at Ingleside Christian Church. A burial service will follow at the Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery.
