Peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Henley House in St. Catharines. Clare passed away in her 90th year with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband of 61 years, William (Bill) in 2009. Dear mother to Bruce (Loretta), and Robert (Shirley). Much loved grandma to Drew (Stephanie) and Briar (her fiancé Iain). Also survived by her nephew Michael Hutchison (Judi) and many great nieces, nephews and friends.

Clare was married to Bill in Hamilton and they moved to St. Catharines in 1948. Clare was a terrific stay-at-home mom while Bill worked at MacKinnon Industries/General Motors. Clare also enjoyed many years of charity work with her sorority sisters in the Sigma Kappa XI. Clare and Bill always had a great time on their many vacations throughout Europe and the United States in their retirement years. She has now re-joined her husband to continue with their adventures together. Everyone who knew her described her as a "real lady". She will always be remembered for her kind and loving ways, and her beautiful smile. Clare was an avid card player in her younger years but lately was content to be called "The Queen of Crazy Eights". Family visits always included a wee taste of sherry. The family wish to thank the wonderful staff at The Henley House, for their care and compassion, where Clare resided for the past two and one-half years. We also wish to thank the residents and their families for their kind thoughts and condolences during her final days.

Family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street in St. Catharines (905-684-6346) on Tuesday December 3rd from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a Service in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, 2250 Highway 20, in Fonthill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Henley House, 20 Ernest Street, in St. Catharines. On-line tributes may be made at www.hulseandenglish.com
